Gluten-free Option:

I’m obsessed with these High Protein Loaded Fries! They are so easy to make and are great if you’re craving some vegan junk food, but have protein goals to hit! I like to use frozen fries to cut down on the doing stuff in the kitchen time, but if you make your own, you can get the calories/macros even better!
I use a similar tofu crumble in this High Protein Vegan Chili, so maybe you can meal prep these recipes together. Or, if you’re feeling wild, you could just use the chili instead of the crumbles listed. I’ve tried it; it’s delicious!

Ingredients
- Cheese Sauce – I make a high protein cheese sauce out of silken tofu and nutritional yeast. It’s so easy to make and is also great to just eat with tortilla chips, or drink as a savory smoothie (this is a joke; please don’t drink this – or if you do, let me know how it went).

- Fries – I used store-bought frozen fries because I was feeling lazy and it’s just easier. You can get better calories/macros if you make your own fries though!

Meaty Crumbles
- Extra firm/super firm tofu – if you’re using super firm tofu, you shouldn’t need to press it. If you’re using extra firm tofu, you’ll need to press it before using to drain off the excess water. I just throw it in a tofu press 20 minutes before (or sometimes the day before if I remember), but you can also use heavy books or pans!
- Nutritional Yeast – this is a shelf-stable ingredient that you can find at most grocery stores; you can also buy it online. There are two types of nutritional yeast – fortified (with B-12) and non-fortified (without B-12). They taste about the same so you can you use either one!
- Chili powder, paprika
- Soy sauce – you can also use coconut aminos.

Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 425 F (218 C).
- Press the tofu beforehand if you’re using extra firm. If you’re using super firm, skip this step.
- Crumble the tofu really well. I do this by hand.
- Add in the nutritional yeast, chili powder, paprika and soy sauce and mix in well. I also do this by hand. Your hands will get cold.

- Spread the seasoned tofu crumble across a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.

- Bake in oven for about 15 – 18 minutes. Flip it once, halfway through.

- You can also bake the fries at the same time; per package instructions.
- You can make the high protein cheese sauce while you’re waiting for the tofu and fries to cook. Just follow the recipe linked in the recipe card – basically you just blend a few things together!
- Once everything is cooked and the cheese sauce is made, spread out your fries, and layer on the cheese sauce and crumbles!
